Staging for Success

Posted on March 18, 2013 at 10:20 AM

Luckily, many homeowners and real estate agents have heard of A2B Home Staging and know how fundamental it is for moving a property faster and for more money. If you haven't, now's the time.

As a home stager, we help you change your life. In the competitive Durham Region real estate marketplace, our primary task is to help homeowners and realtors sell houses.

A2B Home Staging is the process of making a house buyer-friendly. The public at large often have a hard time seeing a home’s potential, so in a nut-shell, a buyer must be able to immediately picture living in the home before they ever buy it.

We Help YOU  • Highlight your home’s best features  • Abolish the clutter in your home  • Depersonalize your home

Homeowners and realtors use A2B Home Stagers to help them make their homes stand out in a buyers’ market.

Home Staging enhances the best features of a property while improving or downplaying the not-so-great features along the way. Given that staging a home has been proven to sell homes faster and for more money, calling A2B to stage your home is an easy decision.

We look forward to helping you any way we can.

Smile, and relax with A2B

What's Yoga got to do with Clutter??

Posted on March 6, 2013 at 4:00 PM

I am a yoga nut.

I have been practicing yoga for well over 20 years, and one of my favourite things about class is setting an intention.

In yoga, these meditative thoughts, these intentions, in the ancient language of Sanskrit, are referred to as Sankalpa.

A Sankalpa has the potential to release tremendous power by clearly defining and focusing on a chosen goal.

A clear, defined, and focused goal that cultivates clarity and aligns with what really matters to you is what we at A2B will help you to achieve. Setting an intention to get rid of chaos and clutter is awesome.

To begin, ask yourself why you want to do this. When you know why you're doing something, the motivation is a lot easier to find. For example, you may want to have a more organized living space so that you can establish a serene area in which to practice yoga :)

Once you've decided on your purpose, keep your intention, your sankalpa, as your motivating factor. Tell yourself,"I am clearing this space in my life for what is important". Keep telling yourself that. See the space, and see yourself 'on the mat' in that space.

You can let go of what's not important and make more room for what is.

If you need some help, this is what we are here for.

Letting it go with a smile,

Lisa

Clutter Has a Voice

Posted on February 27, 2013 at 9:25 AM

Does clutter constantly whisper disturbing things in your ear?

"You have too much stuff! You need to prioritize! What a mess! Make a decision! Quit procrastinating! What are you so afraid of?"

and my own inner voice has even said "Don't be so lazy!!!"

It can be overwhelmimg. I know, I've been there.

I can tell you that clearing it out changes the messages.

"I make space for beauty and calm in my life! I am clear and have room to grow! I am powerful and positive! I am in control of my own life! I have room for peace and love to flourish! I can move and grow with plenty of room! I can create my own reality! This is my design and it feels good!

and my favourite, "I have what I need, and want what I have!"

If the voices are disturbing you, give us a shout to help you out!

Let it go, ;)

Dealing with too much clutter? Take a picture of it!

Use your camera in the area or of the room you want to declutter. Transfer the images over to your computer for a "big screen" view.  Study the image of the area or room you are working in with your inner interior designer's eye. Think about what is useful and/or beautiful. If you think the image looks messy and unorganized (and you know it does!), it definitely looks worse in real life.  What needs to change? What needs to go? Go ahead, move it somewhere else, or pack it in a box and drop it off at your nearest charity. You will feel better without the mess. Take an 'after' shot to show off your stylin' ways.

Photographing sentimental items before you sell or donate them is very helpful.

Many of my daughter's stuffed animals needed a new home - we agreed on keeping just one toy chest of fluffy pals. We took pictures of the favourites that made the cut, and created a special photographic file on our computer of furry friend memories just for her.

You can do the same with those cute baby clothes, dried corsages & travel souvenirs. They may be hard to part with but if you photograph them before you pack them off their sentimental value is always with you.

Smile, and let it go.
