Questions?

1) Help!  I've got too much stuff. What should I do first?

Durham Region's A2B Estate Service understands how overwhelming it can be for a homeowner, trusted family member or estate executor to undertake the task of downsizing, moving, or handling an estate clearing. The first thing you should do is identify the items that are not for sale. Pack and remove what you intend to keep, and leave the rest to us! Do not "clean out" the house with trips to a donation site or landfill, as many of the items you think are "junk" may have resale value.

2) What are the costs associated with your Service?

There is no fee for the initial consultation (within Durham Region). We'll gladly meet with you to walk through the premises and advise you of your best options. When you sign a contract with us, we will retain a deposit.  At the end of the sale, we are paid by commission based on the value of the sale. In some cases, we may charge a minimum and/or an hourly rate. To assist you to organize, to stage your home for resale, or to pack for your move, we charge a flat rate based on our time and expenses.

3) What about "Antiques" and other valuables? Does your Estate Service sell those too?

Our expertise, knowledge and experience with the current market will determine a fair market price for those items, a price that a collector will gladly pay. Many dealers come to our sales and buy in bulk for re-sale. We negotiate with them once we have reached our own potential market. 
We also have well established contacts in every facet of the Antique and Collectible market if we need to determine the value of very unique items.  

4) Couldn't I just do this myself?

Short answer? Yes.  
Getting ready to move, de-cluttering, staging your home, or handling an estate are manageable with time and energy, but for many, it is overwhelming. And do you really know the value of all that stuff?

We know how to help. We are experts in Antiques, Collectibles, and the Resale Markets. 
We make sure we understand what your priorities are and work to achieve your goals. 
We know how to price things so they will sell, how to set up for a sale, how to monitor traffic, and we know how to draw a crowd to the sale!  

All of these things comes from years of experience. 
We make it easy for you - you can relax, and know we are working FOR you!

5) What about all the cha-chas and stuff I have? 

Never underestimate what people will buy at an estate, content, or tag sale. We have sold items for as little as 25 cents, and for as much as $25,000. Yes, even that could sell! Let us determine what will sell and what won't - DON"T THROW ANYTHING OUT!

6) What if my items do not sell?

There are several options for items that do not sell. The homeowner/executor can keep the items, donate them to favourite charities or give them away. We may be able to arrange for a complete buyout to local re-sellers, or we can remove all items for local non-profit donations at your request. 
We can also arrange for consignments.
